What is custom photography?
What custom photography truly is to me is a look. A moment. A feeling. A memory. It's something intimate and alive. When you look at your photos, I want you to feel like I captured your loved one in an act you recognize and love. You can practically hear that laugh, you recognize that look in your loved ones eyes and know exactly what it means, you can feel your little ones arms wrapped around your neck or you recall exactly the feeling in your heart when you held your little one to nurse. What I want more than anything is for you to look at your photos and fall in love with them a little bit more every time you see them.
It doesn't really matter what that moment is, the idea with custom photography is that I get to know my clients well enough through our initial meeting and during the session to capture those precious memories for them. Custom photography is your entire experience with me, from the initial appointment to the session to our ordering session, I want every part of your experience to be personal, fun and meaningful to you. I watch in that first meeting for attitude, body language, relationships and style in family members/clients (I encourage you to bring your family along to this meeting if you'd like). I continue looking for those things in the session and (cheesy as it may sound), I swear my lens helps bring them into sharper focus. It feels like magic at times and I always feel so privileged when a client tells me a) how much they enjoyed the actual session (this is often surprising to them) and b) that they want to laugh/cry/smile when they look at their pictures. Finally, in our ordering session, we take the time to decide what images you really love and want and how you can best display them in your home.
Why custom photography?
Custom photography is worth it because memories are worth it. Looking back and seeing your babies again, even though they've grown so much; feeling the love and happiness of your first dance with your new husband; reliving your children's carefree, innocent moments; remembering the tumultuous feelings before graduating and entering the big crazy "real" world; these are all things photographs capture and they are priceless. Custom photography is worth it because you and your loved ones are worth it.
