I love baking, chocolate, movies, photos (obviously), traveling and learning.
I love Japan (I lived there 4 years) and Japanese food. I love music, dance, writing and I love, love, love reading.
Ever since I can remember, I have been entranced by stories and unless I was creating them in my own head, books and film were where I looked most to find them. Both are tied to imagery, movies in a more obvious way, books exploding visually in my mind as I devour page after page.
My love of these two things are part of what took me to film school and when I took my first photography class, I fell completely in love with portraiture. I was shocked to find that turning on my camera and focusing my lens was like opening up a book only instead of the story unfolding in my mind, there it was, right in front of me.
It is so magical and humbling to be allowed to participate in other people's stories and photography
allows me to do this in a way that is both intimate and removed; intimate in that life is happening right before me
and I am being allowed to witness and take part in it, removed in that I don't want my presence to interfere, I simply want to capture those pure moments in the most artistic and beautiful manner I can.
I truly feel I am given a gift each time someone invites me into their lives and allows me to capture what is it that makes them
who they are: the attitudes and looks that make their kids the loves of their lives, the impish grins and moments of pure laughter, the love that defines their family, the real moments that make them all who they are.
My aim is to do this in as unique and beautiful a way as possible and if you feel my style suits yours, my promise
is this: the more you look at your photos, the more you will fall in love with them!
